Not your typical classroom education ~
Triumph is a proud supporter and friend of Courageous Sailing. A few years ago we donated a small Modular Office Building along with some storage space. This year we helped wrap a container to help Courageous build brand identity and awareness of its cause. Courageous is a great Boston company for which we are proud to partner with, given what they do for inner city youth.
Established in 1987 by a South Boston resident and sailing enthusiast named Harry McDonough, the mission is to transform lives through sailing programs that inspire learning, personal growth and leadership. Today, Courageous provides Sailing opportunities to over 1,000 youths annually with many kids coming from families below the poverty line or otherwise of relatively modest means. Sixty four percent of the kids receive a scholarship to enroll in the Courageous Youth Programs. They do generate some revenue through Adult Sailing and corporate events, and also by managing sailing programs at Jamaica Pond and Camp Harborview !
Courageous is also partner of the Boston Public schools, – who has also been a client of Triumph’s for Modular Classrooms. Courageous provides summer academic programming and teacher development through Sailing. Courageous and Triumph are very much focused on Education. We are working with Courageous to explore further expansion on the Wharf, for educational facilities, of course, in conjunction with the City of Boston.
Well over half of Courageous Sailing revenue comes from fundraising! And there are some large initiatives going on right now. Please check out www.courageoussailing.org/annualappeal.com, and make a pledge if you are able.
Swim, Sail, Science (SSS) is the cornerstone program of the “Reach Initiative.” It combines swimming, sailing and science curricula synergistically – with sailing as “the glue” and incentive through which swimming safely and summertime learning became fun and engaging .
Good luck Courageous Sailing and keep up the great work. We hope to see you on the Water in the Spring !
