Woods Hole Ferry – temporary modular terminal

Steamship Authority engaged Triumph Modular for a building of permanent quality which would be capable of relocation.  Use – Ticket Office during a six-year reconstruction project at its Woods Hole facility, which provides ferry transportation between Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard for over 2 million passengers a year.

The 3,600 square-foot facility,  is a shining example of the highest quality building that is capable of being installed in less than six months from project conception, and also capable of being leased. It could be picked up and moved, returned to Triumph, and or used at another site. In this case, the Client opted to purchase the building. The ferry terminal required a complex design to house terminal functions including a customer waiting room, ticket operations, concessions, public and private restrooms, a kitchenette, and operations spaces. Omni Composite Fiberglass Panels covered by a large-scale custom vinyl wrap featuring nautical charts of Woods Hole and Martha’s Vineyard. Other elements include an office with a tempered glass ticket window, front custom bamboo and cedar decking, plywood cabinetry, a deep laminate backsplash at the ticket counter, and tile and epoxy floors.

The building’s proximity to the harbor required windows to be impact-resistant. Tempered glass was installed onsite with a pre-cut hole to accommodate custom brushed stainless steel deal trays.  Bamboo was selected as the material for the composite decking for its aesthetics and sustainability.
